American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. is an organization that was created after World War I to provide care and support for mothers who have lost sons or daughters during service in the armed forces. The name originates from the tradition in which families would hang a service flag in the window of their homes; a blue star would signify service members in active duty, a gold star would represent those who had lost their lives in duty.
Most Americans are not familiar with the American Gold Star Mothers organization. In addition, there has been virtually no comprehensive film on these women or their role in American history. They Shall Live will let their voices be heard.
