Veteran’s Day 2009

I have a blog I wrote on my lunch break I was going to post for Veteran’s Day but I read something today and will be posting it for Veteran’s Day instead because I feel it says it all so much better…. I will post the other blog later.

Thank you to all you that have served and are serving for all you have done and all you are doing.

Definition of a Veteran: A veteran is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America”, for an amount of “up to and including my life.”

    Angelia -

I landed here after stumbling across a site where you posted a piece on meeting Medal of Honor recipient Lt. John Finn, USN.

I met him yesterday in Boston at the Semper Fi Society’s U.S.M.C. Birthday luncheon. What a thrill to meet hime and shake a hand that fought so hard in defense of our country during the opening moments of the savage attack on Dec. 7, 1941.

As for your family’s loss of Michael, may God Bless you all. Having lost my big big brother in Vietnam 41 years ago I can tell you that he will never be forgotten by his comrades. I have found that memories might fade of many they served with, but the ones they lost do stay with them forever. For us and the families of others KIA with my brother that day (that I have come to know in recent years), it is very comforting to know that your Marine or Soldier is constantly in their thoughts and prayers.

Finally, your adoption of the unit and involvement in their homecoming I am sure, did more for their healing than they know. Michael works through you. Happy Veteran’s Day!

    A Gold Star Brother
